TEACHING STYLE
Marian Wagner has found teaching to be a gratifying, portable skill. She has taught in the lower mainland and overseas in a variety of teaching situations. She believes that in order to develop critical thinking skills students must have the opportunity and room to investigate, reflect, collaborate and communicate their personal views. As a retired teacher, she used her experience and knowledge to co-create a relevant, middle school simulation program. Through role play, students are transported to a distant exoplanet where they discover the importance of awareness, empathy and a sense of connectedness when seeking solutions to global issues; particularly, forced migration and climate change. Her current passion lies in creating awareness of this detailed simulation adventure that has been piloted and translated into French. It is currently being taught in a Coquitlam middle school.
